Starting in 2007 when the national men's hockey team was ranked 13th in the world, all the way to Olympic gold in 2021.

Thomas is a professional hockey player and 4-time Olympian. He has played 15 years in the Belgium national team and is a European, World and Olympic champion. He represented his country 359 times and has been captain of the team for 5 years. At the moment he is still playing at the highest club level in the Netherlands for Oranje-Rood.
He finished his Bachelor degree in Podiatry whilst playing hockey professionally and at the moment he is following the Master in Sports Management course at the Johan Cruyff Institute. Furthermore he started his own 'Briels Hockey Camps powered by Sportways' to teach and inspire the next generation of hockey players.
