Be Inspired

10 Years ago, the concept of DevOps first saw the light in Ghent. Since then, many organisations have begun to explore this way of working, creating efficient teams and becoming more agile.

CTG understands that setting the right course for your organisation can be a difficult task. That’s why, for the next stage of our moveIT journey, we invite you to explore the DevOps realisations and challenges that organisations are experiencing today.

We are happy to help you to navigate through this digital jungle with our expertise and insights, gained from our real-life projects, cooperation with our customers, and reliable partner network.

The inspiration you will gain from these success stories will act as your compass in the storms ahead.

Sessions come in 3 separate tracks, allowing you to schedule this afternoon to your own preferences. On top of this, we throw in two exciting workshops as an extra bonus: "The Hollow Square", highlighting the challenges of collaboration and communication, and "The Phoenix Project™ Walkthrough", giving you a taste of one of the strongest business simulation games in the market today. Mr Paul Wilkinson himself will take you through the game, and share his C-Level insights with you!

In between, there wil be ample time to meet your peers, or chat with our specialists.

At the end of what is going to be a very captivating afternoon, the closing keynote session is reserved for Mr Jef Staes. Jef is an authority on learning processes, innovation and culture change, supporting organisations to find a comprehensive answer to the changing dynamics of today’s market.

Abstract

SCRUM Master, DevOps Engineer, Tribe Lead, Agile Ninja, … So many new job titles, but so few people that understand what they actually mean.

IT has changed, is changing and will continue to change. Are we prepared for that? Are our companies, recruiters and HR departments ready for that?

What does it take to be a valuable team member nowadays? Which skills and techniques are expected in your IT toolbox? What competences are recruiters and companies looking for? Should I be worried about my retention rates? And if so, which activities can I undertake to boost the retention in my organization?

The differences between the companies and their expectations, the current (IT) skill sets and the future competence model will be highlighted, including tips and guidance how to tackle these upcoming challenges.

Abstract

Agile transformations often start with brilliant thinking and brilliant ideas. And brilliant is exactly what they are.

Their implementation however is often a painful track full of confusion, frustrations, anxiety,… due to neglecting the gap which people have to overcome in an Agile transformation.

Having insight into what we're often neglecting and why those mistakes are so easy to make is the essential step in overcoming the Agile gap.

Abstract

In preparation of this session, I started with the premise: “Being an agile organisation is good, being an agile service organisation is better”.

This raised many questions. Here are a few:

What is the impact of driving agility from a service perspective instead of a development perspective? How can you combine control and flow in an agile service organisation? Can silos exist in such an organisation? Who defines the pace? Who creates the value? What is needed to get there?

If you are interested in the answers I found, feel free to join!

Abstract

What is DevOps? Good question. There are as many answers as there are people offering DevOps solutions.

One thing is clear: Adopting and applying DevOps principles and practices can create a competitive edge, or if you don’t adopt and apply them can leave your organization at risk to those who do.

The phoenix project business simulation is a dynamic, highly interactive workshop which can be played with people from the end-to-end value stream or with ‘DevOps' teams. In this short session we will ‘walk through’ scenarios using the simulation to explore challenges YOU recognize within your organization and reveal how DevOps principles and practices can help.

At the same time we will capture concrete actions to take away!

Abstract

Performance testing is complex and takes time because it still requires human action. So how can reliable and thorough performance tests be executed in these fast-paced environments and how can performance testing tools integrate with a DevOps tool chain?

In order to secure the deployment of releases in production, the developers typically apply an early performance testing approach for the main components.

Most of them are more comfortable building performance tests directly from their IDE, while performance engineers use another way. As a consequence, it is not possible to re-use the work done by the developers.

We can overcome this challenge by building a strong “quality as code” pipeline mixing pure code scenarios for component testing, and hybrid design for your staging pipeline.

In this session, you will learn more about the best practices to include performance testing into your DevOps development process:

  • What is the impact of DevOps on performance testing practice?
  • How to integrate your performance testing solution into a DevOps tool chain?
  • Which parts of performance testing can be automated in a DevOps environment?
  • How can NeoLoad expose a score on the quality of your release?
  • How can I handle automatically the change on my E2E scenarios with the help of Ranorex or Selenium?

Abstract

With continuous exploration of customer needs, talking to business and agility being the go-to principles on the tip of many tongues, “fail fast” is often repeated as a mantra towards succeeding and responding to the many changes needed to steer teams and companies into new ways of working.

No-one likes to fail however. Doing so, even in a fast and agile way leads to a broken idea, a fear of rejection that will not lead to the promised success, no matter from which direction you approach it.

It will leave you with a feeling that there simply could have been “more”. More awesome, more special, more of an aha-moment.

I invite you to join this trip through a little bit of history to show that there is a very careful balance to uphold between "understanding" and "failing", and to see what we can do today to put the "Oomph" in success!

Abstract

Unleash the power of DevOps across hybrid IT—quickly bringing innovative ideas to life at the pace your business demands.

Agile and DevOps typically start at the Team level, in this presentation we will show you what is needed to scale up from Agile/DevOps at the team level to Enterprise DevOps. And this based on 4 focus areas

• Build on what works: by bridging the old and new technologies as you navigate the change

• Reduce operational friction: by optimizing value streams from request to business value

• Boost business confidence: by engineering quality and security into every application, solution or product

• Deliver better outcomes: by leveraging feedback and analytics to continuously improve.

All of these will be explained and illustrated with real examples, based on real Customers, coming from different industries.

Abstract

The world is changing faster and faster. From a flat 2D-World to a chaotic and ever-changing 3D-World. Organizations, companies, schools and regions must adapt to a 3D-World that is flooded with information and need to boost their Innovation Power.

Most of today’s companies however are not able to create the right learning and working environment that enables and energizes passion and talent-based learning and working. We unintentionally transformed talented students and adults into passionless sheep. This keynote is a plea for a dramatic change in the organization of learning, work and innovation. After this session 2D, 3D, 3D-Smarting, the Power Defect and Red Monkey Innovation Management will be branded in your brain. You will become disrupted.
